Gone are the days when gadgets like
high end smartphones, tablets and touch
screen laptops were equivalent to gold and found
in the treasury of the rich and the elite only. Owning devices like
these has become more of a common affair nowadays and is no more
limited to the cream of the society. Not only the moneyed but also
the not so moneyed are considering buying android tablets or touch
screen laptops as a good investment. Huge chunks of the middle income
section are going for them to experience the world of innovation and
its many advantages and almost everybody today has at least one of
the three.
One of the most recent, unique and
interesting developments as far as gadgets like tablets, smartphones
and touch screen laptops are concerned is the use of such gadgets
during aeroplane take offs and landings. Earlier the use of the same
was somewhat limited and possible only while the aeroplane was in the
air. But as suggested, the dimensions have changed and the United
States and the European Aviation Safety Agency have now allowed its
use during take offs and landings as well. This shows that the
authorisation (without making a compromise in safety) is a big and
revolutionary step taken by the aviation industry. But the liberty to
use gadgets onboard aircraft also goes on to show the level of
importance and the position that these personal electronic devices
have acquired. They have become an integral part of our lives and
made us lead a gadget dependent life more than we can realise. So
much so that not having a tablet, a smartphone or a touch screen
laptop is a blasphemy of sorts and beyond the status of many, and a
deficiency that is capable of paralysing normal life.

Coming to think about it, what are the
reasons that have added to the increase in use of such devices and
made one buy
android tablets, big screened smartphones and
touch screen laptops like this? Is it luxury, entertainment,
information, knowledge, convenience, mobility, a fast lifestyle, an
inclination to use the latest in technology, a better life or the
amalgamation of all? It is perhaps the summation of the all the
factors. Because not only do we enjoy a different kind of social life
today, our values, our approach towards life and the way we deal with
things have metamorphosed greatly.
We live in an era that is highlighted
by multiplexes, malls, consumerism and a hunger for innovative
technology, and lifelined by gadgets.
